Ahoy Matey: Sailing Through an Allergy-Free Birthday
Danielle from Fresh4Five has created a allergy-free birthday series called Have Your Cake and Eat it To. She asked me to share my experiences planning Tristan’s last birthday party. So, here you are…
Ahoy Matey: All Ships Ahead for an Allergy-Free Birthday
Planning a birthday party is never easy. But throw food allergies into the mix and it can be a nightmare. I am a planner by nature. I love to plan. BUT I tend to drive myself, and everyone around me, a little crazy when I go into planning mode. I’m sure this year was no exception, but according to my family, I covered up my crazy pretty well.
How, you ask? Well, this year marked my son’s second birthday since his food allergies were diagnosed. The first year was a bit of a whirlwind – I really didn’t know what I was doing and I don’t honestly remember much about it – other than we got through the day without any food issues. Thank goodness.
So, I’ll chalk up this year’s success to a whole year of food allergy-free living under our belt. I’d already conquered the art of allergy-free cooking and baking and dealing with food allergies at other children’s birthday parties. So, this year, my son’s fourth birthday party, was much less stressful and much more fun.

Ok! Love the blog but this has nothing to do with it actually! I found a product that has saved our lives and I wanted to share it with other moms that are struggling with it! I wanted to share it because it has truly been our lifesaver! Our little one has reaaally severe eczema and has always scratched a lot. We swaddled her for the first 4 months of her life which prevented her from scratching her face but she started breaking free of the swaddle and tearing her poor little face up with her fingers and she would just pull the mittens off. I found out about this product called the Zipadee-Zip and it has been a true life saver! Not only does she sleep better now than she did swaddled but the Zipadeezip encloses her whole body which prevents her from scratching her face to pieces but it still gives her the freedom to roll around and use her arms. You guys need to carry this product!
