The bathroom cupboard is full of creams, antihistamines, steroids, and antibiotics that have almost passed their expiration date but no longer give you any relief.  You are at your wit’s end and about to give up hope because you cannot find a treatment for eczema that works for you.  It’s time for PLAN B: Homeopathy.

Homeopathy is a natural system of medicine, which assists the body to heal itself when it feels stuck. Eczema is definitely a disease of ‘stuckness’ – an itch scratch cycle where skin issues, constant thoughts of being unattractive, and feelings of perpetual sad and hopelessness – all keep you stuck.

What does a homeopathic consultation involve?

  1. Knowledge – of yourself and your symptoms
  2. Understanding – that the body heals itself
  3. Patience – as healing takes time
  4. Commitment – to taking medicine
  5. Observation – of changes to the body, feelings and thoughts.

During the consultation the patient is invited to tell their ‘story’.  As well as:

  • The onset of the skin issue
  • Stress factors
  • Family medical history
  • Emotional state

You are encouraged to reveal as much as you are comfortable with.  The more detail given the easier it is to recommend a solution. There are different remedies for eczema that are prescribed for different types of eczema and dermatitis.

The homeopath can ask about:

  • Sleep patterns
  • Appetite/Thirst
  • Foods likes/dislikes
  • Temperature/sweat
  • Bowel habits

A Homeopathic remedy is then selected for you. It is important to keep in mind that no two people are alike and that treatments can differ. For instance red, dry eczema can be healed with SULPHUR while oozing, weeping eczema can be medicated with GRAPHITES. The remedy is selected based on an evaluation of all symptoms.

What to expect transitioning to homeopathy for eczema?

  1. Aggravation – short term worsening of symptoms
  2. Temporary return of old symptoms
  3. Improvement of general symptoms (sleep, bowels, mood etc)
  4. Clearing of the skin

At the start of your treatment, you might experience aggravation and flare-ups for a few hours to a few weeks, but these symptoms will gradually disappear. On the other hand, general symptoms (issues sleeping, bowels, mood, etc.) can take longer to disappear while skin might take a few months to completely heal.
A general rule is: a month of healing for every year of suffering.

For the most effective results from homeopathy it is best to see a practitioner; however, below is a list of remedies you can use at home for eczema-related issues:

  • Constipation  – Nux Vom 30c
  • Intense Itching – Histamine 30c
  • Insomnia from itching – Arsenicum alb 30c
  • Feelings of sadness – Ignatia 30c
  • Feeling overwhelmed and worn out – Sepia 30c

Directions: Take one granule 3 times a day in a clean mouth. This means your mouth shouldn’t have any remains of food. Suck on the pill until it has completely dissolved.

Homeopathy is an effective alternative and natural eczema treatment that is becoming more popular. From my own personal experiences and clients’, I have seen the positive effects this medicine can have on eczema sufferers. If you’re desperately searching for an alternative, I wholeheartedly recommend seeing a practitioner in your area.

Later she discovered yoga and found it helped her so much with her own health that she completed the 200 hour training. Over the years she has traveled extensively, learning and treating people. She considers her life journey as one of fun and devotion. Today, she works on sharing her program with eczema sufferers everywhere on her site (make this a no-follow link).

IMHO: Homeopathy is a waste of money and energy. Useless nonsense. I’ve tried it many times.

    • Sorry to hear that. My husband doesn’t see good results with it. But my children and I both have had good experiences. I think it really depends on what you use and also on the person’s bodily chemistry as well.

  2. Good information. But drinking aloe vera gel and applying aloe vera gelly & aloe propolis creme can help a lot in healing eczema.

Drinking 3 oz of pure Aloe Vera Gel first in the morning on a daily basis helps the body to function at 100% says doctor Peter Atheton.
