  1. I think your blog hop is a great idea to disseminate information and advice about allergies. I suffered most of my life from eczema, asthma, rhinitis, food allergies and intolerance. One of my sons followed suite but thankfully he has grown out of the eczema and food allergies, but still suffering from rhinitis and mild asthma. I have started a blog called ‘Living With Multiple Allergies’ to talk about my experience dealing with this condition. I hope you will add me to your blog hop. Thanks ever so much.

    • Hi there – I’d love to add your post – such a great piece, but the hop is for blogs that write about allergies, asthma, or eczema everyday. I will be happy to share this great post over FB though. Thank you for sending it my way. Jennifer

  2. Here is a very important article that I hope you post:
    http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/06/why-dirty-pacifiers-may-be-your-childs-friend/?smid=pl-share
My son – age 19 – has debiltating eczema that has seriously impaired the quality of his life. He was born by C – Section (which was intended to be a home birth – but no dialation after 32 hours of labor) and to parents who never shared saliva – through shared utensils or food – and are very clean. Although he was breast fed until 18 months, he had a dose of antibiotics due to a possible ear infection when he was 4 months old. Any good bacteria he may have had was shot right there. I would have licked the kid’s face daily had I known it might have prevented his autoimmune condition. If you have a baby, please share your saliva with the baby – share utensils – or if you use a pacifier – suck on that too.

    • Hi Deena –

Thanks for the article. I did post it on the FB page. Interesting! I do believe in the theory as it goes along with the unhealthy balance of gut bacteria so many of us are dealing with today. What have you been doing to try to heal his gut? Fish oil, probiotics? Jennifer

  3. Hi Jennifer,
I want to join the blog roll. I posted to you several days ago. My blog will launch May 7th. I will be talking about life with 3 children with severe eczema, food allergies, asthma, 2 of them have EE. I will also blog about other life issues: premenopausal, herbs, Iridology, homeschooling, etc. Please add my to your roll & I will start this on my site too. Thanks so much.

  4. Hi! I’m Shan from http://www.sneezyblues.com/ I just started my blog and its great to know many other blogs out there dealing with allergies. I would love to be part of the Blog hop. My blog deals with allergic rhinitis and sinus, which many with eczema, asthma and food allergies are also concurrently suffering from.

    • Hi Shan – Happy to “meet” you! And thrilled you hopped over to my blog. I’ve just added you to the blog hop and I look forward to staying in touch. Good luck with your new blog! Jennifer

  5. Jennifer!
I just found your blog and cant say how much I would have LOOOVEED to find you earlier…how did I live without you….is more like it?!?! My son is 17 months and I scoured the internet for months looking for products like the ones you have on the Eczema Company. Im not sure where you are located, but i have a marketing company that focuses on wellness products and would love to gift you some free hours to help more mamas find you easier. If you are interested, feel free to pm me! and thanks for all of the awesome info!

  6. I would love Blog Hop too. I am personally interested because I have son with allergies. I have also co-founded a company Kitchology that is developing a web/mobile application that is focused on food allergens and sensitivities, along with lifestyle surrounding food and kitchen activities. As you know first hand we consumers want to be “in the know” related to food labeling because it is well documented that certain types of ingredients in foods can cause issues. More importantly, there is no cure for many of the food allergy conditions and therefore successful avoidance requires these us to be “in the know”. From a mother’s perspective, uncertainty can be daunting. I am also working to make a difference surrounding the FDA new initiatives within food allergen thresholds.

  7. Just found your blogroll, it is great, read many of these blogs myself.
We are a slightly different house, as we are treating epilepsy with a ketogenic diet, which I have begun blogging about, and posting recipes about recently. Prior to that my daughters and I became GF, for an intolerance to the gluten and yeasts. I blog many good recipes for both, and create my own whenever possible, I would love to be added to the list!

  8. Hi Jennifer,

I would like to blog hop with you. I am new to blogging and my blog is Lovinspoon http://lovinspoon.org. My 4 and half year old is allergic to milk, eggs, tree nut, peanuts, and sesame. I had those allergens under control until I found out a few months ago that my son is allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts and possibly milk. Finding safe products and recipes that both kids can eat is a challenge. I’d love to share ideas and info with you.

    Sincerely,

    Melissa

  9. Jennifer,

I found you off of Real Food, Allergy Free. I am going to put a link to you on my Gluten-Free page on my blog since I know it will be very beneficial to others dealing with similar issues.

I am not an “allergy mom” exactly. I was diagnosed with allergies years ago that I no longer have (whether I was miraculously cured or misdiagnosis, I’ll never be sure), but my passion to help others with allergies (especially the top 8) stays with me. I started a blog called Natural and Free that offers recipes and information for those with the top 8 allergens. (Here’s the link: http://NaturalAndFree.blogspot.com/)

I was also recently “diagnosed” with Fibromyalgia (I put it that way since that’s what the doctor is going with as long as nothing new surfaces) that is also making me get back into natural eating and avoiding food triggers (I’m blogging about that, too, but that’s another story! :) ). Oh the joys of elimination diets! :) It is no fun guessing and checking, but I know that’s really the only way to be 100% sure.

At any rate, love your site and I wish you the best!

    Sincerely,
    Julie M.

  10. This list is awesome. I would love to be on here, too. I have two children with multiple food allergies; my oldest has asthma, too. We are making it work and trying to enjoy the ride!

  11. Hello! I’ve added your link to my website. Please add mine too! Thanks! http://www.allergicvegetarian.com

My website is a Recipe and resource site that tries to accommodate any combination of allergies, including unusual and multiple allergies. Images of my recipes will be added by the end of the year.

Some of the resources includes a Food Family list, Cheese list with ingredients for those trying to find an allergy free cheese that’s suitable for them, and an article about “Rare Food Allergies”. More resources will be added in the future. Not every cookbook category has content yet, but I’m adding more content often. It was newly redone to make it more accessible for those with various color processing issues.

About Me: I deal with multiple unusual food allergies and asthma. I’m anaphylactic to the poultry truck driving by. lol If you click on “Kyt Friendly” at my site, you’ll see everything I deal with. Thanks!

  12. Hi there, I found your blog while surfing through Steve’s Planet Lactose site; I’ve grown up having allergies to foods, plants, and animals, along with asthma and eczema (so lucky!). If I had things I couldn’t have, my skin and breathing would show through right away. I had lived with pets all during this time, and had never been without a few until I moved out on my own; then control of something that I deemed incontrollable seemed feasible. Without pets around I’ve been able to go months without taking an inhaler to open pathways, a year or so ago, I learned about bleach baths, taken every 2-3 days; it’s like I don’t have skin problems..! When I was a kid,, I couldn’t be outside in the sun on a hot day because I’d itch myself to pieces; when I would sweat, the same thing would happen. If I only knew then what I know now, I probably wouldn’t have suffered so much as a kid.
As for allergies, it was like I was allergic to everything. Wheat, yeast, sugars, citric acid, any dairy, or seafood, or poultry, breads; it sucked. I’d given up on trying to not eat the stuff that irritated me, and suffered as a result, then gave in to it all and started looking after myself more, since the alternative was no option. My mother has smoked heavily since before I was born, and hasn’t stopped as of yet. It made everything that much more difficult to control.
But when I moved out of the animal hair and smoking environment and into a place of my own (without carpeting, stuffed animals, or any other asthma triggers), my quality of life became one that I didn’t think would be possible for me.
A year or so later, I noticed I could eat a lot of the foods I was allergic to as a kid. Poultry, fish, fruits and sugars, flatbreads, white bread, cereals, lots of stuff. I think my body was so pervaded and invaded from where I was living as a child because I didn’t tackle the issue of clean air and environment then, that everything escalated. Now, I can eat everything I couldn’t as a child, with the exception of lactose/dairy products. I no longer have any breakouts or flare-ups from foods, though pets, homes, smoke and weeds do still trigger undesired effects to the skin and my breathing. But after introducing bleach baths to my regular routine, my skin seems so much more like what a normal person’s is like. I’m still astounded. After the bath, I apply ratio-clobetasol propion (that’s what it’s called where I live in Canada) to any dry feeling areas, and always to my hands, which used to flare up from washing with perfumed soaps constantly but now no longer do, owing to the bleach baths and cream combination.
Everything is conquerable, and your child will get better and live a pretty normal life. I hope this information from my experiences helps you or your child, or anyone else struggling with these issues.
I’m looking forward to browsing through your blog’s links for more information regularly; thank you!

    • Really great to hear your story! It’s so interesting to hear about the animals and second hand smoke really irritating your overall health and manifesting itself in eczema, allergies, and asthma. There have been a lot of studies that prove this as well. It’s wonderful that you are so doing so much better now! Great for you! Jennifer

    • Oh no! I went through a phase and went searching for all the new (to me) blogs out there and I realized the other day I left out all the original blogs I was following. Sorry! I’ll add you now. Jennifer

    • Hi – I just read through some of your posts. You’ve been through a lot with your girls! That’s wonderful that you’ve made such progress! I look forward to following your blog and I’m adding you now to the blog hop. Thanks. Jennifer

  13. Hi Jennifer,

I’m a retailer near an allergen clinic and also a food allergy sufferer myself. So my extended family here at the store keeps growing because we all try to stick together to help each other whenever a newbie joins our group. I’ll pass the word around. Hopefully many of them can also find your information useful and helpful.

    Thanks!
    Kathi

    • Hi Kathi –

That sounds great! I’ll add you to the blog hop. Do you have a physical store only? It doesn’t look like the online boutique is open yet. I also have a store, but online only. The Eczema Company provides specialty clothing and natural skincare for children with eczema. Maybe we can find a way to work together! Thanks for your comment. Jennifer

  14. This is a great idea! Anyone who has dealt with allergies and/or eczema needs support. It is very challenging to go through. My nephew who is almost two had head to toe eczema that is getting better but still a challenge along with that a long list of food allergies.

    • Thanks! Yes, I’m really happy with the great list we’ve got going here. It’s fun to be able to link up to one another and help spread allergy and eczema awareness. I’ll add you now. Welcome!

    • Hi Charmaine – I’m adding your right now. It’s great that we can all link together and create a global community. It makes world feel like a much smaller place. Welcome! Jennifer

  15. Hi Amber!! :D This is JoAnna From http://joannaorganicchefandhealthenthusiast.blogspot.com/

All the Best JoAnna ! :)

    • Hi JoAnna – My name is Jennifer, maybe you got me confused with another blogger from the Allergy Free Wednesdays event. Regardless, nice to “meet” you and I’ve added you to the blog hop. Thanks for joining us!

  16. Thank you for asking me to be a part of this hop…I definitely want to share my site. It’s not strictly cooking, but I do share lot’s of recipes that are allergy-free…and have blogged about allergies here and there. My son is ana- to Milk, Egg and Peanut… My husband found out in Sept. 2011 that he has EE (where food allergies attack your esophagus) and is allergic to Milk, Cashews, Chocolate, sesame, sunflower, corn, wheat, and barley…there will be many more recipe posts to come~!

  17. Hi Jennifer. My son had the worst eczema when he was two. The backs of his knees were so red, inflamed and itchy. We’ve all had weird skin issues and still do–from exposure to gluten. When my son was finally diagnosed with celiac disease the week before his 15th birthday, all the itches and allergies and constantly running noses in our family were explained.

  18. Hello There,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note. Say hello and let you know about my blog.

My son suffers from eczema. It was a nightmare when he was an infant. It’s much better now, but he has been on an allergy-free diet since birth (well, before birth). My recipes are not only for my Crohn’s Disease, but also for his food sensitivities.

    All recipes are:
*Dairy, gluten, sugar, soy and peanut free.
*I have grain-free and egg free recipes as well (all my baked recipes are egg free thus far actually).
*Specific Carbohydrate Diet & Anit-Candida Diet as well.

My homemade eczema lotion is extremely helpful for both my son and husband. Link here:
    http://www.thetastyalternative.com/2011/10/homemade-lotion-for-dry-skin-and-eczema.html

A very Happy New Year to you and your family!

    Best,
    –Amber

    • Hi Amber – I’m so glad you found me because I love your site! Our stories sound really similar. I to started making my own natural cream for my son’s eczema, but it didn’t last long – as you’ll see on the comment I made on your site. Any tips for removing the oily/waxy residue from clothes? I’ll keep an eye on your recipes as they seem all very allergy friendly, which is right up our alley. I also really liked your link to safemama – that’s a new site for me. I’ll add you to the blog hop right now. So happy to have you join our list of great bloggers! Happy holidays! Jennifer

  19. I adopted a child with bad eczema and fought it with docs help for several years. Accidentally I discovered something that I want to shout and tell the world about. . . One year as the weather warmed up (think Montana with cold winters and warm cozy pajamas), we took winter PJs and stored in top of closet as spring/summer PJs came out, which was probably an over sized t-shirt. I started noticing her eczema started clearing up (though I am still clueless why, just thankful). Anyway, several weeks later, she noticed winter PJs in the closet and convinced Daddy to let her wear them (they were cute). Shock of shocks — eczema returned. Bingo! Had to be the flame retardant they insist on putting in all children’s bed clothing. Needless to say, we no longer use store-bought “PJs”. And we no longer fight eczema. Try it and see if it works for you little people. Blessings!

    • Yes, flame retardants are basically full of all sorts of chemicals that can harm the skin. Everyone should definitely be wary of that. Most store bought pjs do contain these chemicals. Always ask if the pjs are free of flame retardants before buying them. Brenda, great info for everyone. Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Vicki – Yes, it went through, but as spam, so I didn’t catch it. Not sure why that happened. You’ve been added now. Sorry the twinkies didn’t work out as planned. Allergy free twinkies would be yum! Have a great weekend! Jennifer

  20. I’m new to this blog hop thing, so please fill me in on exactly what I need to do! :)

I’ve dealt with multiple food and enviro allergies, a pretty complicated elimination diet, standard allergy treatment/shots and alternative medicine and share my experiences. Also, allergies/eczema/light asthma in kids. My current focus is eating Gluten Free and feeding my family healthy food on a limited budget.

    • Great! Very happy to have come across your site. I’m new as well, so we can learn together. For the blog hop, you can either add my blog hop page or home page as a link in your blog roll OR you can start a new page of your own and create your own blog hop list of sites – feel free to copy the ones I have here if you like, just don’t forget to add mine please :)

    • Thanks Annaliese! I’ve added you to the list now. It’s great that you’ve found your son’s triggers. It took us quite a while and we found it to be challenging, but it was such a relief once we did.

  21. Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive read anything like this before. So nice to find somebody with some original thoughts on this subject. realy thank you for starting this up. this website is something that is needed on the web, someone with a little originality. useful job for bringing something new to the internet!

    • Yes! It’s amazing that our own dermatologists were saying what a small percentage of eczema is caused by allergies, but it seem high to me – most children I know can link a food directly back to a flare-up. Here’s hoping we can spread the word some more! Do you want to join the blog hop? Jennifer

  22. HEY! You commented on my blog that you’d like to collaborate and I’d love it as well! We have celiac’s (gluten), dairy, peanuts, eczema and asthma. mommy4livingwithout.blogspot.com

    love what you are doing!!!

    Jennifer

  23. I definately want my blog shared in your circle. You commented on mine earlier and I’m just getting back to you. I want to help as many families as possible!!! We have celiac’s, dairy and peanut allergies plus eczema and asthma. Mommy4livingwithout.blogspot.com…just tell me what you need!

    • Hi Melissa – It’s great to have you! Welcome. I’ll add you right away. Hey, would you be interested in being a guest blogger? I’d love for you to write about the advice and coaching you give to new parents – maybe share some of the things you do in the sessions. Let me know what you think. Jennifer

  24. My son has food allergies that contribute to his eczema. By eliminating or reducing the exposure to his allergies his skin has definitely improved. I’d love to be part of your blog hop and I am sure I will be referencing to other’s blog posts as well. For the time being my blog is foodformantou.wordpress.com but I am going to try to change the url soon to mealswithmantou.wordpress.com

    • Same for us – food allergies triggered my son’s eczema. A lot of drs we talk to didn’t want to connect food allergies with eczema saying that it’s such a small % of cases, but it seems to be a trigger for most eczema kids I know. Let us know when your blog name is changed – for now I’ll post the current site. Thanks! Jennifer

  25. What a great idea Jennifer!

I’m a mom to a peanut, tree nut, egg and sesame allergic boy. We’re currently participating in a peanut allergy clinical trial at Children’s Hospital Boston with great results!

I run Best Allergy Sites, a food allergy and gluten free directory, guide and social networking community. You can find us at: http://www.bestallergysites.com/

Food allergy bloggers who would like to add their site/blog to our directory can submit at: http://www.bestfoodallergysites.com/

Thanks for all that you do for our community!
    Ruth

    • Hi Ruth – Great site! I’ll add it to the blog hop. Please add mine to your mentioned directory. Also, would you be interested in guest blogging at your experience at the clinical trial? I’m sure most the moms here would love to here your story! Thanks. Jennifer

    • Hi Jeanette – We are in the same boat it seems. Food allergies were our son’s main trigger too! Most the dermatologists we met with wouldn’t make the food allergy and eczema connection. That was frustrating. But hey, we figured it out and it’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it?

  26. So happy you stopped by to invite me, and I’d LOVE to be a part of this.

I’ll also try to be a little better about pointing out substitutions that will make my stuff casein-free as well as gluten-free!

  27. Happy to join in – I will have to add a links page to my site since right now I don’t link to anybody. Let me know what link you prefer (your main page or this blog hop).

    • Hi! Please link to my main page. Are you going to start a blog hop too? Or just create a blog roll? Feel free to continue this blog hop on your new page if you like. There tons of great blogs already signed up here. Jennifer

      • Sorry, I don’t have a allergy blog (although….thinking it’s on the way!) Have major nut, wheat, soy, citrus, (and latex) along with more minor allergies so I’m always looking for great allergy blogs. Hope you don’t mind me gleaning everyone’s wonderful info :)

  28. Sorry, but I left a response a few days ago, but now I don’t see it. I would love to be added to your blogroll so I can share my egg, dairy and nut free recipes.

    Lori

    • Hi Lori – I took my first weekend off since starting this blog…it was a nice, much needed break :) You are now on the blog hop. We’ve got a really great list going. Take a look. -Jennifer

    • Awesome! Thanks so much! Love that you’re joining in the idea…the more links, the better for all of us dealing with these conditions! I’ll add you now – I was enjoying a weekend off :) – Jennifer

  29. LOVE this idea Jennifer! My blog (Adventures of a Gluten-Free Mom) is a little bit of everything and everything gluten-free. My oldest son and I have celiac disease, my youngest son (who battled SEVERE eczema) and husband have non-celiac gluten sensitivity. In addition, we’re also dealing with a casein intolerance, as well as an egg and corn allergy…yep, we’re having fun, LOL!

I added you to my blogroll.

    Hugs,
    Heidi

    • Hi Heidi – we battled it all as well with our son, but thankfully everyone else is allergy free….so far, but we do all have our own skin issues and seasonal allergies. Oh, the joy :) Great to meet you! I’ll look forward to following your blog. You’re now up on the blog hop. – Jennifer.

    • Hi Lexie – Great, so glad you want to join up! I’ve added your blog to the blog hop. Your recipes look delish – I’ll have to give a few a whirl. My son’s asthma is virus induced as well – not fun, but I’m thankful it’s not something we battle daily. Talk to you soon! – Jennifer

  30. I think this is a great idea. I will definitely add you to my blog. Good luck to you as well in the Top 25. I’ve been introduced to some amazing women and some amazing blogs through it!

    –Shanon

    • Can I say that you are my role model? Is that silly? I would LOVE to be able to grow my own fruits and veggies and live off the farm, but alas it’s not in the deck for me, at least not in the immediate future. Your food storage tally honestly makes me jealous. I’m so paranoid about the mass produced food we consume, so being self sufficient like that would be a dream come true for me. Good luck to you too! I’m certainly very happy to have come across your blog. I’ve added you to my blog roll and to the blog hop page as well. -Jennifer

  31. thanks for your recent post on my blog.. here is my blog “http://youngallergies.blogspot.com. Looking forward to scrolling though all the blogs already posted.

    • Hi Mags – Your almond butter crepes look yummy!!!! I’ll have to try that one. I wonder how to make it gluten-free…hmmm…
I’ve just added your blog to my blog roll and the blog hop. I look forward to following your blog. -Jennifer

  32. Hi, it’s Chrmaine from http://yummyallergenfree.blogspot.com . I would love to be a part of the Blog hop! My blog mostly only addresses food allergies because it’s mainly a recipe blog, but my kids also have eczema and asthma. I was just reading your post about looking back at the early eczema and realizing how far we’ve come. Every time I read a story about a bloody, oozy eczema baby it takes me back and I want to cry. I thought we were the only ones in the world going through it at the time. I’m so glad there are Moms like you out there now letting others know they are not alone, and it will get better!

    • Hi Charmaine – Agh, the horrible trio – allergies, eczema, and asthma. These poor kids – thankfully we can usually identify the triggers and it helps relieve their symptoms, but not everyone is so lucky. I’ve been following your blog and need to try out a recipe. I just added you to the blog hop. It’s great to link these blogs together. Good luck in the contest!

    • HI – Just voted for you as well. You’re doing well – surely you’ll make the top 25. I’m trying, but I’m not sure it’ll happen. We’ll see :) Either way, it’s great to find out about all these other blogs I’d never heard of. I’m so happy to be connected with many of them now. It makes it much easier for all the parents like us if all our resources are linked. I added your blog to the blog hop. Take care!

  33. Thanks so much for adding my site! I’m finally connected to the Internet again, and added you to my blogroll. Looking forward to reading through all your posts :)

    • Lisa – It’s great to link all these food allergy, eczema, and asthma sites together. It makes it easier for all the parents to find great info and recipes. Good luck in the contest!

    • Hi Elizabeth –

Of course! There isn’t a lot of blogging out there about asthma and I’m not sure why. I have been focusing so much on the eczema and allergies, but I do need to get some posts up there on asthma. If you’d like to share your story as a guest blogger, I’d be very happy to post it. You could share your story in general or a story about one of your son’s early asthma attacks and triggers.

Please let me know if you’re interested.
      Thanks!

      Jennifer
